① Creating Your Account

To begin, you’ll need to create your account.

  1. Click the “GET STARTED” button at the top of this page to access the Competency Gauge Practice Test or click here.
  2. You’ll be redirected to the login page. If you don’t have an account, click the “Create new account” button below the login form.
  3. Before being able to create an account, you need to carefully review and agree to our Privacy Policy and Cookie Notice.
  4. Fill in your details and submit the registration form.
  5. Check your email for a verification link and click it to confirm your account.

Once verified, log in and enrol in the “Competency Gauge – Practice Test.”

② Navigating the Course

After enrolment, you’ll find yourself in a “Course.” This environment is organized into a series of steps split across two sections: “Before You Begin” and “Assessment.”

  • Step 1: How to Complete Your Assessment:
    • A short tutorial on navigating the test interface, answering questions, and reviewing your results.
  • Step 2: Assessment Information:
    • More information about what to expect and how to prepare.
  • Step 3: Candidate Waiver and Confidentiality Acknowledgment:
    • Review and confirm your agreement before accessing the exam.
  • Step 4: Competency Gauge Practice Exam:
    • The practice test.
  • Step 5: Feedback Survey:
    • Share your anonymous feedback after completing the test.

We highly recommend following the steps in order. You must complete Step 3 to access the exam in Step 4.


③ Taking the Test

Once you’ve filled out the Candidate Waiver and Confidentiality acknowledgment and are ready to take the test, proceed to “Step 4: Competency Gauge Practice Exam.”

On the exam page, you’ll find a brief description, information on the format and length of the exam, and your previous attempts (if any). When you’re ready, click the “Attempt test” button.

Once the test begins, you’ll see one question at a time. A timer in the top-right corner shows your remaining time, and a “Test navigation” panel on the right displays all of the questions.

Answering Questions:

  • Select your answer by clicking one of the multiple-choice options
  • Your answer is automatically saved when you move to another question
  • Use the “Next page” button to proceed, or click any question number in the navigation panel to jump directly to it.

Flagging Questions for Review: If you’re unsure about a question and want to return to it later, click “Flag question” in the question info box on the left.

Flagged questions appear with a small red corner marker in the navigation panel, making them easy to find.


④ Submitting Your Test

When you’ve answered all the questions, click “Finish attempt…” at the bottom of the navigation panel.

You’ll see a Summary of Attempt page showing all questions and their status. Flagged questions display a flag icon. This is your last chance to change your answers.

When ready, click “Submit all and finish.” A confirmation popup will appear. Once you’ve submitted your attempt, you cannot change your answers.

Click “Submit all and finish” again to confirm.


⑤ Viewing Your Results

After submission, you’ll see your results including your overall grade.

For each question, you’ll see whether your answer was correct or incorrect, the correct answer, and any additional feedback provided. The navigation panel highlights correct answers in green and incorrect answers in red for a quick visual summary.

Reviewing Past Attempts: You can return to review your results at any time. From the exam page (Step 4), you’ll see your highest grade and a list of all previous attempts. Click “Review” to revisit any attempt.
